Step 1: Estate Settings

Begin by entering the name of the deceased — this appears on the PDF report. Then select the gender of the deceased (male or female), as this determines which spousal shares apply. Next, choose your madhab (school of thought). If you are unsure, Hanafi is the most widely followed globally, but select the one your family practises. Finally, select the currency — the tool will attempt to auto-detect your location's currency.

Step 2: Enter Asset Values

Input the current market value of all assets in four categories: cash and bank accounts, real estate and property, business assets, and investments and gold. Important rules to follow:

  • Use current market value for property and business assets, not purchase price
  • For jointly owned assets (e.g., a home owned 50/50 with a spouse), enter only the deceased's percentage share
  • Include all assets globally, not just domestic ones
  • Include digital assets, vehicles, jewellery and valuables

Step 3: Adding Heirs

Use the counter buttons (+/−) to indicate the number of each type of surviving heir. Only include heirs who were alive at the exact moment the deceased passed away. A child who predeceased the parent does not inherit (though you may use part of your 1/3 Wasiyyah for grandchildren whose parent predeceased you). Enter the full name of each heir — these names appear on the PDF report and are required for the document to be useful.

Step 4: Deductions

Enter the four deductions in order: (1) funeral and burial costs, (2) outstanding debts, (3) unpaid Zakat, and (4) Wasiyyah (bequest). The Wasiyyah field automatically displays the maximum allowed (1/3 of net estate) and will cap the value if you exceed it, in accordance with the prophetic instruction that a bequest cannot exceed one-third.

Reading Your Results

The results page shows each heir's Quranic fraction, the percentage of the net estate they receive, the total monetary amount, and the per-person amount if multiple heirs share a category (e.g., three daughters sharing 2/3). The Calculation Trace section below the table shows every rule that was applied — allowing you to verify or share the methodology with a scholar.
